AWeber VS GetResponse [Which One Is Better and Why]
Posted by Codrut Turcanu I List AdviceFeb 24
There is no secret, list building is about turning prospects (aka leads) into profit, day and night, on auto-pilot. Aweber and GetResponse helps you with that. But which one is better for you and more importantly why?
Read this unbiased comparison and you will find the answer you are eagerly waiting for.
In the end it is your decision to opt for an autoresponder that meets your needs.
If you are tired of low cost autoresponders that do not deliver, then I have to tell you that both services we are talking about today are dedicated to add more money in your pocket.
You already know that the money is in the list. You probably heard that some marketers [and bloggers] are making a full time living online with small lists, while others are generating thousands in cash at the bush of a button.
While most of these “stories” are made up, there are some real examples of regular folks, just like you and me, making a bunch of money through autoresponder email marketing.
For example, up to 85% of my online income comes as a direct and indirect result of list building. And I am no genius, nor have any magic skills.
But I would like to let you in on a secret – a list is like a true asset. If you know how to use it, it can make you money each month, over and over again. Just imagine one client buying from you $1, $10 and even $100 worth of products, regularly. What would this mean to you?
That is the beauty of autoresponder email marketing. Follow up. Sending content on a regular basis. Turning clients into repeat customers.
This is where AWeber and GetResponse come into play. And here is the most important thing you need to know upfront – both autoresponders have very similar features when it comes to essential email marketing – unlimited lists, unlimited messages and unlimited campaigns.
What makes the difference? What AWeber does that GetResponse does not? Or, what GetResponse has that AWeber do not?
AWeber publishes a content packed blog that makes autoresponder list owners life better. Contrary to GetResponse blog, AWeber rarely talks on recent updates and features and focus prominently on delivering email tips to boost list profitability.
If you are a big fan of html templates and rely on design in your email camapigns you should know that AWeber has 135 HTML email templates. GetResponse has 300.
>>> what GetResponse has that AWeber do not
Online Survey capability – you can capture valuable feedback from your clients to help you improve products, target campaigns and stay ahead of the competition. While AWeber does not have this option yet, I imagine they will add it soon.
The most ingenious feature I noticed at AWeber is its video thank-you page. It is responsible to boosting the sign-up rate over any other method out there. GetResponse seems to get behind on this aspect.
>>> Email deliverability and anti-spam policy
I know this is a big issue on autoresponder email marketing. AWeber seems to put more emphasize on both aspects and have more experience than their competitors.
>>> What about the price?
AWeber and GetResponse are priced almost alike at the time of writing this. Here is a tip – while GetResponse gives you a 18% discount on their yearly plan, AWeber has a 30-day trial for only $1.
As a general rule, GetResponse gets more expensive than AWeber when growing your list seize.
>>> Which is more popular amongst Internet users?
AWeber gets the most traffic (page rank 6, Alexa rank 178) and 33,100 type in Google searches versus 6,600 GetResponse.
It’s your turn now.
Which autoresponder do you use? Or, which one would you like to go with? Why?

Nice comparison. I am sticking with AWeber from the very beginning (for a couple of years now.) Thanks that you remind me I should write a post about their latest service updates. –Yours John.

I’m glad you liked the comparison. Are you having analytics with AWEBER?

I like the comparison also although both pricing plans can dissuade newbies from signing up, especially since once you get above the 500 subscriber threshold, both become a bit expensive. Yes there are bells and whistles with both systems but in reality, I am not sure that a lot of people use them. I use Aweber (was grandfathered in on the ‘old’ system and refuse to upgrade because of cost) but I also use another system that includes a boatload of other features and allows me to run all the way up to 15,000 subscribers before there is a price increase.
I wasn’t aware that GetReponse had the survey capabilities, not that it would pursuade me to move over there, but it’s interesting…
Keep up the good work and thanks for the info…

Ron, I’m glad the “review” was helpful for you. Now, if you 15k subscribers, how come you can’t afford the $19 monthly fee?
do you monetize your list the right way, or let it die like most list owners would do…

Great article!, I actually have both autoresponder systems. I used Getresponse for the lead packages and I use aweber because I feel its a better AR all around.
Also I use feedburner connected to my blogs, aweber sends the blog post no hassles.. Getresponse is always telling me my feeds aren’t validated..
Thanks For Sharing,
Larry
